The Letter Z

And inasmuch as He was not made priest without an oath
(for they have become priests without an oath, but He with an oath by Him who said to Him:

“ The LORD has sworn
And will not relent,

‘ You are a priest forever
According to the order of Melchizedek’”),

by so much more Jesus has become a surety of a better covenant.
Also there were many priests, because they were prevented by death from continuing.

But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood.

Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens;

who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people’s, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself.

For the law appoints as high priests men who have weakness, but the word of the oath, which came after the law, appoints the Son who has been perfected forever.

Hebrews 7: 20-28

Good morning ladies,
Do you ever sit and think about the story of Melchizedek? I love to sit and ponder this mystery...who was he, where did he come from? A man with no lineage. Was he our Savior and Lord or just a priest? There are so many wonderful mysteries hidden in God's Word and my prayer for each one of us would be that we would take the time to sit quietly before Him and ponder the deep things He has hidden in His Word.

Have a lovely day ladies and don't forget to stop by Pam's blog Grey Like Snuffie to find more verses starting with the letter Z.

Be strong and of good courage,
do not fear nor be afraid of them;
for the LORD your God,
He is the One who goes with you.
He will not leave you nor forsake you.”

Good morning Ladies,
I'm getting my post up late and am so sorry. Last night after I had gone to bed I realized that I hadn't started my letter X. It must have been on my mind all night because I never fell asleep until the wee hours of the morn...explains why I'm up late.

Pam had decided that since there are so few X's in scripture we could post one of our favorites, but how does one choose a favorite when there are so many rich and beautiful nuggets to hold on to. I was going to post Psalm 91: 1&2, but as I sit here typing away an Xceptionally meaningful scripture popped into my head...I may have used it before so if I have please Xcuse me.

DEUTERONOMY 30:20

That you may love the LORD your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, FOR HE IS YOUR LIFE AND THE LENGTH OF YOUR DAYS;

I remember I first time I read this scripture I was babysitting a clients house (I used to do nails) while in the process of looking for a new apartment which was always a scary thing since I made little to no money. Time and time again I saw the Lord do such miraculous things in my life and provide in ways I never could have imagined. I clung to this scripture that day and have every day since then. When every thing around us falls apart HE IS STILL THERE TO CLING TO! Praise God for His steadfast love and care of His darling daughters...that means you.

I hope you all have a very blessed day and don't forget to stop by Pam's blog to help us stir up God's word in our hearts!

In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.

He was in the beginning with God.
All things were made through Him,
and without Him nothing was made that was made.

In Him was life,
and the life was the light of men.
And the light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness did not comprehend it.

JOHN 1: 1-5

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair.

2 Corinthians 4:6-8

The people who walked in darkness
Have seen a great light;
Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death,
Upon them a light has shined.
You have multiplied the nation
And increased its joy;
They rejoice before You
According to the joy of harvest,
As men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
For You have broken the yoke of his burden
And the staff of his shoulder,
The rod of his oppressor,
As in the day of Midian.
For every warrior’s sandal from the noisy battle,
And garments rolled in blood,
Will be used for burning and fuel of fire.
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;

And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,

To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

Isaiah 9:2-7

I love this scripture because it reminds me so much of the true meaning of Christmas, but it also reminds me that one day (hopefully soon) our God will reign in Righteousness. As the Jewish people always say, "wouldn't now be a good time for our Messiah to come (again)?"

Revelation 22: 1-5

And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.

Dear Ladies,
I have always been perplexed by the portion of scripture in verse 3 where it talks about the leaves of the tree being used for the healing of the nations. Why do the nations need to be healed once we are in heaven if old things pass away and God creates a new heaven and earth? Have any of you ever thought about what this verse means? I've tried doing a study on it but always walk away confused. If you have any thoughts I'd love to hear them...thanks!

You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied,
And praise the name of the LORD your God,
Who has dealt wondrously with you;
And My people shall never be put to shame.
Then you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel:
I am the LORD your God
And there is no other.
My people shall never be put to shame.
“ And it shall come to pass afterward
That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your old men shall dream dreams,
Your young men shall see visions.
And also on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days.
“ And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth:
Blood and fire and pillars of smoke.
The sun shall be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,
Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.
And it shall come to pass
That whoever calls on the name of the LORD
Shall be saved.

For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance,
As the LORD has said,
Among the remnant whom the LORD calls.

So I will restore to you the years
that the swarming locust has eaten,
The crawling locust,
The consuming locust,
And the chewing locust,
My great army which I sent among you.

The Letter Q

Set me as a seal upon your heart,
As a seal upon your arm;
For love is as strong as death,
Jealousy as cruel as the grave;
Its flames are flames of fire,
A most vehement flame.
Many waters cannot quench love,
Nor can the floods drown it.
If a man would give for love
All the wealth of his house,
It would be utterly despised.

Song of Solomon 8: 6 & 7

This is one of my favorite verses about the sustaining power of true love.
I remember when I first gave my life to the Lord
and read this book for the first time...
it took my breath away to read that a human could love so deeply
and then I found out it was really about
the Lord's love for me and my relationship with Him.
There are weeks when the only book I read is The Song of Songs.
It speaks to the inner most depths of a persons heart...
at least is does to mine.

The Letter P

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,
that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

The Letter O

When you come into the land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations.
There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.
For all who do these things are an abomination to the LORD, and because of these abominations the LORD your God drives them out from before you.
You shall be blameless before the LORD your God. For these nations which you will dispossess listened to soothsayers and diviners; but as for you, the LORD your God has not appointed such for you.
DEUTERONOMY 18: 9-14

This is one of my favorite passages of scripture, why you might ask... well, growing up in my family these were "harmless activities" that were a normal way of life. I spent a lot of my childhood in fear. Afraid of falling asleep at night, afraid of taking naps during the day, and afraid of a presence I could always feel but never able to see. Some of us had strange childhood's. Mine certainly was.

There is a spiritual battle going on all around us each day and an unseen enemy that never tires, but is always on the attack, but during times of trouble and fear God's Word is the ONLY source that can calm and comfort our souls. Greater is He that is in me then he that is in the world.

That was fun wasn't it?

The Letter M

God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

The Letter K

But He knows the way that I take;
When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.

My foot has held fast to His steps;
I have kept His way and not turned aside.

I have not departed from the commandment of His lips;
I have treasured the words of His mouth
More than my necessary food.

The Letter J

1 PETER 1:3-9

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away,
reserved in heaven for you,
who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,
that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
whom having not seen you love.
Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.

The Letter I

Pam at Gray like Snuffie is hosting The ABC's of the WORD every Thursday and today's letter is I as in "I am late posting and I am just rolling out of bed at 6:45" and, "I am so sorry for my tardiness." So I thought for the Letter "I" would post some scriptures on the "I am' s of God."
One of my favorite ways to study scripture is through cross reference. So here we go.

Exodus 3:14
And God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM," and He said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, "I AM has sent me to you."

Isaiah 43: 10 & 11
"You are My witnesses," says the LORD, and My servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, nor shall there be after Me. I, even I am the LORD, and besides Me there is no savior.

Isaiah 43: 13
"Indeed before the day was, I am He; and there is no one who can deliver out of My hand; I work, and who will reverse it?"

Isaiah 43: 15
I am the LORD, your Holy One, The Creator of Israel, your King."

Isaiah 43:25
"I, even I am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I WILL NOT REMEMBER YOUR SINS."

Isaiah 44:6
"Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: "I am the First and the Last; Besides Me there is no God."

John 8:57 & 58
Then the Jews said to Him, "You are not yet 50 years old, and have You seen Abraham?" Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM."

John 18: 5
"Whom are you seeking?" They answered Him, Jesus of Nazareth." Jesus said to them, "I am He."

Revelation 1:8
" I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End," says the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."

If you would like to help us Stir up God's Word in our (your) hearts stop over at Pam's blog Gray Like Snuffie. And now I am (me) going to be late for work. I hope everyone has a day filled with heavenly blessings.

Thursday, September 11, 2008

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple.
Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.
And they were calling to one another:
"Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory."

At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.

"Woe to me!" I cried. "I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty."

Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar.

With it he touched my mouth and said, "See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for."

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?"
And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

The Letter G

Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all ways tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
