ABC's of the Word

Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib He had taken out of the man, and He brought her to the man.

The man said,
"This is now bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called 'woman,
for she was taken out of man."

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

Hello Ladies,

Today we are on the letter X and since Pam decided we could choose any scripture we wanted, I decided it would only be fitting to use the scripture engraved on the inside of my wedding ring. Today hubby and I celebrate our 15th Wedding Anniversary. 15 years! It seems like it was just yesterday then on the other hand it seems like we've been together our entire lives.

ALL THINGS MADE NEW

Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.
Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying.
There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”
And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.
He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.

Glory of the New Covenant

7 But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, 8 how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? 9 For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. 10 For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. 11 For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious.
12 Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech— 13 unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. 14 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. 15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. 16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Good morning Ladies,

I have always loved this passage of Corinthians and the concept of a veil needing to be lifted. A veil that only He could lift. When I lived in San Diego one of my favorite things to do on Friday night was attend synagogue. I loved the warmth of God's chosen people, the reading of scripture, and the singing of the Canter. I would weep and pray when the Rabbi read the passage of the Suffering Servant and I would ask Him, "why?" "Why can they not see that it is You this passage is about?" And then I ran across this portion of scripture and understood. But is it not true of every person, whether Jew or Gentile, that if they are without Jesus that veil needs to be lifted?
There are so many people in my life who don't know Jesus as I'm sure there are those in yours. My prayer would be that each and everyone of them would have that veil lifted from their heart and that they would be able to see Him clearly.
Just some thoughts this beautiful morning.
I hope you all have a blessed day!!!!

And by understanding it is established;
By knowledge the rooms are filled

God is serious business, take him seriously;
he's put the earth in place and it's not moving.
So let Heaven rejoice, let Earth be jubilant,
and pass the word among the nations, "God reigns!"
Let Ocean, all teeming with life, bellow,
let Field and all its creatures shake the rafters;
Then the trees in the forest will add their applause
to all who are pleased and present before God
he's on his way to set things right!

1 Chronicles 16:30-33 The Message

Good Morning Ladies,

I was looking for a different scripture all together that had to do with trees until I discovered it was really a forest. So it will have to wait for round 3 and the letter F.

Anyway, I don't usually read the Message, but I thought this translation was rather sweet: Fish bellowing, animals shaking rafters, and trees applauding. I often wonder when the Lord comes back will all the animals and all creation bow in honor of Him? They did in Aslan's world.
Just little thoughts...
Have a wonderful day and I hope that whatever you do or where ever you go nature cries out around you about our Glorious Savior and LORD.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

You will guide me with Your counsel,
And afterward receive me to glory.

Whom have I in heaven but You?
And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.
My flesh and my heart fail;
But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Psalm 73: 24-26
Good morning Ladies,

I can't believe that we are already on the letter P, can you?
Last night as I was pondering the letter P I was reading through Psalms and ran across this promise. What ever you may be going through, the Lord is there and He is our strength, refuge, rock, and hiding place that we can run to no matter how the storms rage around us. He is our portion FOREVER!!!

I pray that today you would find strength in Him and His words.

The Letter O

7 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”’

11 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.”’

17 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.”’

26 And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations—

29 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’

And it came to pass, on the next day, that their rulers, elders, and scribes, as well as Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the family of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem. And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, “By what power or by what name have you done this?”
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well, let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”
JOHN 14: 1-5

Good morning Ladies,

As a little girl and young woman I read design magazines instead of magazines like Cosmo because my mother forbid them saying they were anti-marriage, anti-woman, and not something a proper lady should waste her time or money on. So design magazines it was.
When I first began blogging one of my favorite things to do was to see the insides of other women's houses and how they decorated them. As I continued to read my own home began to pale in my eyes and I started longing to have "What she had." But then one day I remembered that life is not about having the perfect home and accessories, but about living our lives for the Lord and sharing His love with those around us and preparing us for our eternal home with Him. After all, He said He goes to prepare a place for us.
Do you believe they are literal mansions or that He's just speaking figuratively?
I believe they're literal and am hoping mine has floors made of Rubies.

I hope you all have a lovely day filled with wonderful thoughts of Him.

I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, saying, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,” and, “What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.”

Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death. Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this. The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches.

Revelation 1:10-20

Good morning Ladies,

I don't know about you, but I love the book of Revelation for many different reasons. I love the imagery, the mystery, and the clarity...yes, the clarity! Jesus always explains what He's talking about instead of leaving His beloved children in the dark. After all He is the True Light! The One who keeps the lampstands burning bright.
My prayer is that each one of you would burn brighter still as the darkness closes in.

The Letter J

Welcome to another Thursday of ABC's of the Word!

Set me as a seal upon your heart,
As a seal upon your arm;
For love is as strong as death,

Jealousy as cruel as the grave;
Its flames are flames of fire,
A most vehement flame.

Many waters cannot quench love,
Nor can the floods drown it.
If a man would give for love
All the wealth of his house,
It would be utterly despised.

Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

You have ravished my heart,
My sister, my spouse;
You have ravished my heart
With one look of your eyes,
With one link of your necklace.

How fair is your love,
My sister, my spouse!
How much better than wine is your love,
And the scent of your perfumes
Than all spices!

Your lips, O my spouse,
Drip as the honeycomb;
Honey and milk are under your tongue;
And the fragrance of your garments
Is like the fragrance of Lebanon.

THE Daughters of Jerusalem
Where has your beloved gone,
O fairest among women?
Where has your beloved turned aside,
That we may seek him with you?
THE Shulamite
My beloved has gone to his garden,
To the beds of spices,
To feed his flock in the gardens,
And to gather lilies.
I am my beloved’s,
And my beloved is mine.
He feeds his flock among the lilies.

Song of Solomon 6: 1-3

Good Morning Ladies,

I've never done a study on Song of Solomon, but as I was reading this passage I was wondering about its significance and if it had any or was it just a dialogue between the women. And then it struck me that the Shulamites Beloved was not with her (obvious) and yet she knew where he has and that he had not left or abandoned her.
I think many times we feel this way about the Lord. We are unable to see Him and often don't hear His voice or feel His presence and yet HE NEVER LEAVES OUR SIDE. He is an ever present help in times of need.

I hope you all feel His nearness today!

My beloved spoke, and said to me:

“ Rise up, my love, my fair one,
And come away.
For lo, the winter is past,
The rain is over and gone.
The flowers appear on the earth;
The time of singing has come,
And the voice of the turtledove
Is heard in our land.
The fig tree puts forth her green figs,
And the vines with the tender grapes
Give a good smell.
Rise up, my love, my fair one,
And come away!

Song of Solomon 2: 10-13

Good morning Ladies and welcome to another "ABC's of the Word" hosted by our wonderful Pam of Grey Like Snuffie.

I'm trying desperately to stay in the Song of Songs as long as I can because I feel that many of us need to sense that gentle tugging on our hearts and know that while we are not perfect and continue to blow it, The Lord loves us so passionately. Not because of who we are or what we can do for Him, but because of who He is and what He HAS DONE for us.
I pray that each of you would experience that gentle nudging today and abandon yourselves to His love.

Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:
“ For yet a little while, And He who is coming will come and will not tarry.

Hebrews 10: 35-37

I love the book of Hebrews and the Jewishness behind it for we have all been grafted in to the commonwealth of Israel ( For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches. And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree, do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you). Romans 11:16-18 (I love Romans too)!

Back to my point of endurance:

I believe the time is short and we are coming to the end of this present age and we all have NEED OF ENDURANCE!! If you are feeling weak and weary, hang in there, don't give up, keep fighting the good fight! And remember that The LORD GOD ALMIGHTY
has engraved your name in the palm of His hand!

I sleep, but my heart is awake;
It is the voice of my beloved!
He knocks, saying,

“ Open for me, my sister, my love,
My dove, my perfect one;
For my head is covered with dew,
My locks with the drops of the night.”
I have taken off my robe;
How can I put it on again?
I have washed my feet;
How can I defile them?
My beloved put his hand
By the latch of the door,
And my heart yearned for him.
I arose to open for my beloved,
And my hands dripped with myrrh,
My fingers with liquid myrrh,
On the handles of the lock.

I opened for my beloved,
But my beloved had turned away and was gone.
My heart leaped up when he spoke.
I sought him, but I could not find him;
I called him, but he gave me no answer.

Good morning Ladies,

Do you ever wake in the middle of the night to the voice of the Lord gently calling your name?

Do you hesitate to rise and spend time with Him because of the warmth of your bed or your husband softly snoring beside you?

I do!

I've been pondering this scripture all week and it's hidden meanings and am now wondering how many opportunities and blessings have I missed for sweet fellowship with the One who is the lover of my soul? How many times have I heard His voice and yet have rolled over and pulled the covers back over my head?
I love how the hesitation on the part of the Shulamite results in her deep longing and feeling of loss when she realizes that her beloved has gone. My prayer and challenge for myself is to rise when I hear His voice in the middle of the night and run to that place where I can have that sweet fellowship. And I pray that today is a day of sweet fellowship for each of you with the Lover of your souls.
