Just when I thought Autumn had arrived the weather decided to revolt on us so hubby and I decided to take advantage of the heat. We loaded the kayaks in the old truck and headed for the nearest stream of cool refreshing water.
We headed down the highway and through the hills until we reached this old building right at the rivers edge. It's such a peaceful place. I've always thought it would make a quaint little restaurant out in the middle of nowhere, but who would stop to eat?
We finally arrived at our destination, put the kayaks in, and headed down the river. I know it doesn't look like much of a river, but when you're desperate any old stream will do ;-).
What have you been doing to stay out of the heat?

Wait! You've got 4 kayaks???
How fabulous is that. My brother, the pastor, has a beach kayak that he enjoys a lot. I'm not sure I like the idea of being so restricted with my legs in the kayak. I think I'd be happier with a canoe :0)
uuuggh, lets just say summer and I are not the best of friends...It's been in the high 90-100 here the past two weeks, just starting to cool down..when it's hot like this I stay put and in the house..nothing outside can make me feel better..not even the pool!
How adventurous! I guess that's part of the CA living? Seems quite *daring* to me:)
I just endure the heat...but fall is in the air...it's not so intense these days.

Oh, I would love to have an old truck. Sounds like a wonderful day..going out on the river. I actually had to turn my AC on yesterday. CRAZY cool summer for us...EXTREMELY rare...soaking it in, breathing in the air.
Ooh, it sounds like fun, and it looks so cool and refreshing.
Sometimes I get excited just over a good rain.
How FUN! Kayaks!! What a woman! hmmmm what am I doing to stay out of the heat? Having a house key in my pocket at all times!!!

Today it cooled down to 114. I hid up to my nose in water...
I've been hiding inside where it's cool. Kayaking on some cool, flowing water would be great fun...except the sun would burn me to a crisp! So I'm enjoying your photos and kayaking vicariously instead.
Cool! You did a good job with these pics. It all looks just like you were there!
Hugs, Lisa
And today's the first day of spring here in Australia!
Like fools we toil in the summer heat for the taste of the tomatoes and cukes the watermelon and squash...but thats okay, it cools off at night...
congrats on post of the day nomination...

Greetings from sunny Florida!
I Just swooped in to congratulate you on your POTD nomination from David McMahon, and ended up staying a loooong while. Wonderful beautiful blog! Can't wait to poke around a little and see what I can see. I already am grateful for the news of the Halloween Celebration at A Fanciful Twist. I'm so wanting to dare to participate.
Dearie! Did you visit David, above? This post is one of his "Posts of the Day". **kisskiss**
