A Gentle Balance

Time is like a wheel. Turning and turning - never stopping.
"Natalie Babbitt"

Do you ever wonder about the concept of time? Why does it fly when we're having fun,
but drag on when things aren't going as we'd like?
Lately I've felt as if time has bought me a ticket
on a run-away train
speeding down the tracks without any brakes.
So I've been trying to find a gentle balance
between home and work as well as everything in between.

And I'm learning to slow down
and reflect on what's important in life
and spend time doing things that sing to my heart
while nourishing my soul.

I've been sitting quietly to listen,
with both my ears and my heart,
to the simple joys that only the Lord can provide.

And I've placed my dreams in a delicate box
where I can sift through them at my leisure.

You Lift me Up!

One of my favorite things to do at work is to peek at my emails throughout the day. I know, I know, I'm supposed to be working, but I have one of those jobs where my boss doesn't care what I do as long as I get my work done.
Today, however, was one of those crazy days right before an event where everyone is needing something from me and piling more work on my table. Usually in the form of hand written notes scribbled on a small nondescript piece of paper. Today was one of those days when I was feeling blue, overwhelmed, and not very inspired so I decided to check my email and there was a letter of encouragement from my dear friend Andrea of A Parson's Wife. Have you been over to see her blog? Every time I read one of her posts I feel the strings of my heart being gently tugged, drawn closer into the heart of God. She inspires me and yet today she gave me this beautiful inspiration award. Thank you Andrea!

After work Hubby and I purchased our bead board then stopped at Target to pick up a few items. Once the evening settled down I got back on my computer and checked my emails (I like to check my emails...don't you :)? I found another encouraging note from my Darling Deb at Midlife Poet. Have you visited her blog? It's always filled with such lighthearted delightful poetry laced with a bit of mischievousness. Whenever I'm blue I know I can count on Deb to bring a smile to my face. Thank you Darling Deb!
I'm so thankful to have both of you as friends. The two of you have inspired and enriched my life and caused me to stretch and grow. Thank you! Thank you! Sweet friends!!!

NOW TO PASS IT ON!

This award is to be passed onto"fellow bloggers who visit frequently and raise my spirits with their kind words of encouragement, their beautiful images and their wonderful outlook on life. They make blogging a positive experience and continue to make my life richer."

I'd like if I may to hand this wonderful award back to Andrea and Deborah and I'd like to also pass it on to Pam at Grey Like Snuffie. Her posts are always so full of inspiration and passion and I always feel uplifted whenever I visit her lovely blog.

I've Fallen Head over Heels

I wish I had some pictures of the room to show you, but it doesn't look any different from the last post so I thought I'd show you something else.
Do you remember the tassels I made? Since I made the first set I've been trying to find anything and everything that I can use for the tops. You might say I've fallen head over heels for tassels...silly, I know, but they're so cute and fun to make + you can use just about anything.
One day in my desperation to create something ANYTHING I noticed these two little forlorn kittens sitting on my stove top and I thought, "ah ha! I'll use those little critters."

First I made the little girl kitten...

and then the little boy.
Now they live in Arizona with my sister.

So, the room? We've had some glitches. One coat of paint went on and was super thin so we had to let it dry and apply another coat. I'm a firm believer in waiting 24 hours before the second coat goes on so we waited and waited and by the time we got home it was ready to go. After that I pulled all the plastic up and realized that the polyurethane wasn't completely dry which left a dull blotchy finish on our new glossy floor. Hubby, being the perfectionist that he is wants to sand and recoat with a matt finish while me being the impatient girl that I am decided it would be easier to buy a large area rug. There's going to be so much furniture in the room that noone will even know. :0. Well, all of you will :).
Tomorrow we're going to the lumber yard to buy the bead board and will probably start installing it later that evening. So you see, there really isn't anything to see...yet.
I'm very tired and still feeling woozy so I'm going to go for now plus I can hear the velvet voice of Harry Connick Jr. singing in the background.
Hubby's watching Memphis Belle and I'm missing it.
I hope you all have a wonderful evening.

This is a test...it is only a test...these cookies are to be consumed by no humans for they are the sole property of M.C.S. I'll bet you're dying to know who he is ;)?

My sister Robin, a former English/Science teacher is trying to write children's stories. Well, I shouldn't say she's trying as she's written several. It's just that she can't figure out how to get her images into Illustrator to put the story with the graphics. So I'm just playing around with her images. She has a Mac while I have a PC so it's interesting trying to teach her how to use programs over the phone line, but I just had an idea ;).

I hope you all have a wonderful Monday!
