Whatever makes us forget ourselves and think of others lifts us upward. This is one reason that God permits suffering. We would never know the best and richest of human love if there were no pain, no distress, no appealing of grief or of need. The deepest and holiest of mother-love would never be brought out if the child never suffered. The same is true of God's love. God would have loved His children unfallen just as much as He loves them fallen, but the world would never have known so much of God's love had not man fallen. Our terrible need called out all that was richest, holiest, and most divine in our Father's heart. If no night ever came, we would never know there are stars. Darkness is a revealer.

I do think I understand suffering better after having children. So hard for my human selfish being to lay myself down...but we are called to it and with God's help can lay ourselves down. Have a lovely day Cori. Hope you have some relaxation today...

What beautiful writing. It's hard to accept that out of need and suffering come love and care and closer relationship. Nice to know there's a silver lining to it all... God has a plan that we don't understand and He's working for the good of those who love Him...

I'm so glad you left me a comment because now I am here! Pure lovliness. For the heart and the eyes. I have to say that I *loved* the photos of the old victorians...I do have a weakness for them.
This was a very good post and I appreciate your kind and encouraging words. Yes, there is a huge hole in my husband's heart...Only the Lord can fill it.

Beautiful words!!! I am reading "Hinds Feet On High Places." The words you shared fit right into the book's theme. There is deep water with these thoughts, and it is ours for drinking.

Have a blessed and wonderful Monday, Cori! You are a special blessing to so many!

With God's Love,

Andrea

This is so true. And the end of this quote made me think of something Frances J. Roberts wrote:
"Joy does not see the darkness of the night but the brilliance of the stars."

How very interesting that you posted this when today when I am feeling so emo and poopy. This puts my sadness in a totally different perspective. How can I appreciate the good without knowing the bad? All the best to you :)
