Proverbs 16:20

Whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he.

Proverbs 16:20

We never know the meaning of trust until we learn the nature of trial. It is in trial that we have to put into practice the theory of believing in God. Trust is to become the habit of the soul. But often, I am perplexed about faith, because, instead of being occupied with the Object of faith, I am thinking about the act of believing. But faith never comes in this way. It has no existence apart from Him who is the object of it. "Whoever trusts in the Lord." Let our thoughts be occupied with God's revealed character, with what He is to us and what He has done for us, and we shall, without trying to believe, begin to put our trust in Him. It is with who God is that my mind must be occupied; my mind then finds it's resting place in God, and I begin to know a peace that could never be found in this world. I see then how true are the words, "Happy is he."

Trial therefore is the testing ground or school for trust. It is there that I learn the lesson of implicitly confiding in God, and of waiting patiently on Him.

Cori that was beautiful. It ministered to me today. I am hurting a bit today. Our Worship leader resigned because of marriage issues. It broke my heart because I would look and him and often see with my eyes of faith my son...ministering to the Lord with his gift.
Hugs to my sweet sister

Another beautiful reflection Cori!

Joanne made your gift jar cookies and blogged about them a few days ago -- they looked so good! I'm sorry I haven't been able to make them as yet I'm waiting for my daughter to get her new car so she can come over so we can have dinner together and have them for desert.

Hope you had a beautful and blessed Sunday!

Hugs, Pat

DEAR CORI,

WHAT A BLESSED SUNDAY I HAD...MY MOM WAS HONORED IN CHURCH TODAY AS SHE CELEBRATED HER 99TH BIRTHDAY YESTERDAY! OUR MINISTER OF MUSIC OPENED THE SERVICE WITH HER FAVORITE HYMN..."GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS", ANNOUNCED HER BIRTHDAY AND HAD THOSE SITTING AROUND HER EXPRESS THEIR BIRTHDAY WISHES TO HER WHILE WE HAD THE RIGHT HAND OF FELLOWSHIP. I HAD ALL I COULD DO TO KEEP BACK THE TEARS AS I WATCHED HER SING ALL THE VERSES BY HEART. THAT IS HER THEME SONG...'MORNING BY MORNING, NEW MERCIES I SEE.'

IN KEEPING WITH YOUR SUNDAY MEDITATION...IT BROUGHT THIS BEAUTIFUL HYMN TO MIND...
"MY FAITH HAS FOUND A RESTING PLACE NOT IN DEVICE NOR CREED. I TRUST THE EVERLIVING WORD HIS WOUNDS FOR ME SHALL PLEAD. I NEED NO OTHER ARGUMENT, I NEED NO OTHER PLEA, IT IS ENOUGH THAT JESUS DIED AND THAT HE DIED FOR ME.

YOUR FRIEND...CLAIRE

Cori, this is beautiful, thought-provoking and so very true.

I fail to understand those that question God's existence. I would never choose to forfeit His comfort.

Very good. I've had this "duh" moment for a while now---I don't have to have faith in my ability to believe. I have to have faith in Him.
