Image: John Waterhouse

My eyes are dry
My faith is old
My heart is hard
My prayers are cold
And I know how I ought to be
Alive to You and dead to me

But what can be done
For an old heart like mine
Soften it up
With oil and wine
The oil is You, Your
Spirit of love
Please wash me anew
With the wine of Your Blood

Lyrics: Keith Green

Did you know that this is my favorite Waterhouse painting? I ordered a print of it in November and have yet to frame it.

Keith Green's worship is so pure, so real, so intimate.

Tears are cleansing, refreshing, renewing.

My art...began drawing around age 5, then painting, charcoal, pastels, mixed media. Learned to oil paint in H.S. Took watercolor painting in college and found that it is my favorite. I'm an abstract artist. I'm still longing for an art studio. My hubby has always said he would build me one in cottage form in our backyard. But I now have my eye set on my youngest daughters room that is connected to our living room by double french doors. When one of the older kids moves out, she will move into their room and then I will turn her room into an art studio. All my children are artistic so they will be welcome to use it too.

Sounds lovely Fairmaiden especially the French doors. Watercolor is also my favorite medium but some how I always buy oil.
Did you see the movie The Notebook? I loved the fact that he created a studio for her with such a beautiful view overlooking the lawn.
I would love to have a studio in my little cottage but we hardly have room to move as it is.

I think I've always been a frustrated artist who is unable to draw.I once took Drawing 101 in college and every week my instructor would come to my picture on the wall and say, "technically perfect, but it lacks eye candy." Such is life.
