First signs of Spring

Today was such a glorious day! The sun was shining and there was a warm breeze mingled with the scent of the sweet Honey Suckle blossoms. So I abandoned my petticoat for a pair of well worn bibby's and headed out the back door to play in the dirt.

My wisteria is just waking from her winter's slumber.

This little hummer and his lady love entertained me with a lively little Waltz... or was it the Tango? I couldn't really tell, but they twirled in tight little circles first up then down then they would take off in different directions only to meet in the middle and another dance would begin.

When I would turn away they would buzz past my ear like little fighter pilots and I could feel the tiny turbulence from their weence little wings. The first buzzing was a bit intimidating, but one gets used to it after a few go arounds.

Have you ever been buzzed by a Hummer? If you haven't let me tell you, the first time it happened to me I was terrified. I danced about with my arms flailing in the air while screaming. I must have looked silly, but since my garden attracts giant fuzzy Bumble Bees that's who I thought was after me. Once I discovered it was just the Hummers I was OK.
For some reason the little ones in my yard love to dive bomb me while my head is down and they love to dance in and out of the sprinkling water from the hose.

Here's a frequent visitor to the garden
enjoying the warmth of the afternoon sun.

Ah...one of my favorite roses, Bewitched. She has the most intoxicating scent.

Gracey Allen

This is my hubby's favorite plant in all the garden...the Black Eyed Susan.
He's color blind and yellow is the only color he can truly see. Although he would tell you there are plenty of colors he sees...just not the same as you or me :)!

Humming birds are so delightful to watch. I could spend a lot of time just watching all types of birds. I feed mine on a daily basis, so I 'm always encountering some type of activity with my birds.

Ahhhh spring, when everything comes alive at full speed, including myself! Can't wait to feel the warmth in the air, going outside without a coat too.

Have a Good Day Cori!

Oh what lovely shots you took in your garden Cori! I'm glad you could play in the dirt. That is so cool that those hummers hang around you like that!
I'm back home safe and sound. Flew in at 3:30 yesterday. I got to go to a 9:00 service with my son and his wife and it was good to worship together before I headed to the airport! Have a wonderful day...

Oh, I see you have some wisteria blooming there too!

Hummingbirds are brave little creatures and they do love playing around in the gardens. I'm amazed at how fast they fly.

Oh, how beautiful your garden is! The Bewitched rose is so lovely. I wish I could take a little whiff of its fragrance. I didn't know hummingbirds would dive like that. That would scare me, too. I guess they're playful. Great post. God bless.

I LOVE that I have bloggy friends in warmer parts of the country than here...I get to see spring a couple of months before we get there through all of you ladies. I did clear all of our garden spaces but one of the last years dead stalks on Saturday...gave me hope to see tiny little green shoots under the dead leaves. I left the dead leaves for now..they're talking we may have snow again this month. I can't really plant anything until May. I need to remember to plant some Black Eyed Susans on our rock wall again...they are so bold and happy.

flowers! So lovely- we do not have them yet. The roses are beautiful. I know you are going to have a very profitable year in your garden, you have the know how and really want to see a transformation! I am hoping to build and plant a few vegetable boxes myself. Cucumbers were up to $1 each this past fall! I think we could sell them in our neighborhood. My mother in law lives in Whittier- and she also has a "flock" of hummers in her yard. They are very territorial. They dive bomb us while we are on the patio! so you have feeders for them? We actually heard them bark at each other when they were fighting over the nectar feeder and her big flowery bushes. I am sure the hummers cannot wait to see your garden blossom!

Good morning Cori...thanks for your encouragement. I think this last "fall" was the worst ever and I'm so tired...just wanted God to do it all. :) Ready for face to face..can't imagine what if anything is next...abiding with Him slid out of first place. I KNOW I need to press in. Blessings of all His best to your day!
