The "OTHER" Roof Line

Hello,
Do you remember a few posts back when I was telling you about our visit to Long Beach and the other cottage with the roof? Well, here it is...drum roll paleese!!!

Hubby made me get out of the car and walk around this lovely little place to take pictures. I'll admit I was less then enthusiastic! I've driven by this dwelling many times, but it just doesn't appeal to me and I couldn't figure out why until now.

There are no eves or fascia boards and the roof section above the octagonal rooms have no roof.
Shouldn't they have lovely witches caps? I think so too. And that roof line is just plain wonky! And then there's the Indian motif...what's that all about?!

I spent several years in community college and most of the classes I took revolved around architecture and design so I consider myself to be an official "Architectural Police Woman" and this house definitely needs a ticket!! OK, I'm sure there are some of you that are enamored with this charming little Victorian at this very moment and that's OK...you are entitled to be smitten with any structure that tickles your fancy and what fun would it be if we were all miniature clones of each other? Not very fun at all!

This side is cute, but what you can't see is that just to the left perched high atop the roof like two little birdies are two satellite dishes. Such a lovely accompaniment to the rest of the structure and another reason for a ticket! OK, I'm having too much fun being mean to this structure and I must stop now...I am so sorry for my rude behavior :0! Won't you please forgive me?

I do like the front door. It reminds me of an old Victorian lattice structure that belongs in the garden. I think they would look lovely with lace panels behind the glass and a little light reflecting from old old lamp.
Ah! The Home Depot outdoor lighting...
one more Ticket! I'm saying this with much laughter :)

I hope you've enjoyed this charming little dwelling and maybe tomorrow I'll post the giant Indian motif that's on the back side of the roof...maybe (smile).

Oh the lights are definately the icing on the cake. Go ahead and give that ticket girl! Happy first day of Spring to you Cori! I have a few minutes before we're off again. It's exhausting having fun with the youngun!

I agree- give it a ticket! Someone needs to call "Curb Appeal" at HGTV and turn this house in! Have they ever heard of "less is more!" ?
