He shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds, as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.

2 Samuel 23:4

What a beautiful description of a new day the dying King David gave here. Always the poet, even in his last words he painted a word picture of what it's like to receive the gift of a new day. Fresh from his eternity, God sends "a morning without clouds" a cloudless day in which we may work and dream and pray. How priceless it is-- and yet our Father sends it to us as a free gift of His love. We should carry the joy and song and radiance of this new morning into all the hours of the day. Later, clouds may gather, and outward circumstances may darken our day, but we are to keep the morning in our hearts and the song on our lips as we begin our tasks. As Jeremiah reminds us in Lamentations 3:23 our Lord's compassion's are "new every morning: great is His faithfulness." How thankful we should be for the freshness and beauty of each new day!
